The easiest way to find your save file is to open the game launcher and then “Open savegame folder.”
Windows 10/11
C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie
C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\GeneratedWorlds\WORLD_NAME
Note that if you are using a prefabricated world from the Vanilla client, the latter folder is not required.
NOTE: On the Windows PCs the AppData folder is hidden. You can access it directly for the logged in user by entering %appdata% into the address bar of Windows Explorer.
Linux
/home/%USER%/.local/share/7DaysToDie
/home/%USER%/.local/share/7DaysToDie/GeneratedWorlds/WORLD_NAME
MacOS
%USER%/Library/Application Support/7DaysToDie
%USER%/Library/Application Support/7DaysToDie/GeneratedWorlds/WORLD_NAME
These locations are assuming standard client installs.
In the "7DaysToDie\SavesLocal" folder, you will find your locally stored data from the MP servers you have logged into and played.
In the "7DaysToDie\Saves" folder, you will find your local profile and SP save games.
In the "7 Days to Die\GeneratedWorlds" folder, you will find the saved world data for each map. The folders are named on the Generated map name.
Moving a save file
If you need to move your save, please use the following steps:
- Open the Steam Client
- Navigate to your Games Library
- Right-Click on 7 Days To Die in the left navigation bar.
- Click Properties
- In the bottom text box underneath "Selected Launch Option" enterthe following.
- -UserDataFolder=FOLDER_PATH
i.e. -UserDataFolder=D:\SaveGames\V2.0
- -UserDataFolder=FOLDER_PATH
After this, when starting the game, it will use your path for the save files.
NOTE: You probably want to move your old files from "%appdata%\7 Days To Die\" to the new location before starting the client.
